I have been enjoying Aaron’s blog about his pending Ukrainian adoption. He and his wife are adopted a 2 year old and 15 year old. I am reading between the lines… it looks like Becky (the wife) did missionary work in Ukraine and met the children at an orphanage.

Their SDA appointment date is March 14, 2007.

Alana, Mark and Luka (child traveling with parents) arrived in Ukraine on Feb 7, 2007. They received a referral to a young girl in Dontesk. And just a few days ago had to turn the referral down.

There is a well written post on Feb 13 about the emotions related to turning down a referral.

There are no words to simplify what happened in Donetsk except for these: our hearts did not recognize the girl in the orphanage as our daughter.

They received another referral to a young girl and are in Odessa now.

The Lambert family is so close to completing their adotion of Roman. This family arrived in Ukraine on Jan 16, 2007.

The family is running around getting Roman’s adoption decree, passport and birth certificate.

It sounds like Becky is leaving for the US. And Dan will be bringing Roman home. Someone forgot to tell them… until the last minute. Becky has to complete some forms at the US Embassy. Otherwise Dan will be unable to complete the I-600 application at the US Embassy.

I am sending positive thoughts toward Steve and Beth. They are trying to file their dossier with the SDA. But like many people they are struggling with this.

The SDA is only taking a limited number of dossiers at this point. They have an appointment system for dropping new dossiers off… and there seems to be many faciliators who cannot get appointments.
